Chad Brown

Conservationist

Chad Brown is an award‑winning photographer, filmmaker, Navy veteran, conservationist, and community advocate whose work bridges visual storytelling, environmental justice, and public service. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design and Photography from American Intercontinental University in Atlanta and a Master of Science in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in New York City. His work in film, photography, and community service has led to a formal recommendation for an Honorary Doctorate from Pratt Institute.

Brown began his creative career by securing and developing the visual identity for “Run Athletics,” the footwear brand founded by Russell Simmons and Rasheed Young. This early success led to international work with EPIC, a global fashion house based in Hong Kong, where he served as photographer and director across Bangladesh and Saigon. His creative leadership expanded into brand strategy and national campaigns, including three consecutive years developing the visual identity for Bangladesh Independence Celebration Day. He later contributed photography to The New York Times and The New York Times Magazine.

As the founder of Soul River Inc. and Love Is King, Brown advances equity for BIPOC and Indigenous communities while protecting vulnerable ecosystems. He has led more than 30 expeditions into the Arctic Circle and became the first African American to hold a backcountry guide permit for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. His advocacy includes testifying before Congress alongside the Gwich’in Nation to oppose Arctic oil drilling.

Brown’s filmmaking explores resilience, trauma, and transformation, using nature as a catalyst for healing and social change.
